Not sure how everyone else feels, but I've never been a huge fan of these auto stop-start systems that are becoming standard on so many vehicles, including my new santafe. I get the logic behind it is to save a bit of fuel at long lights, help with emissions, I dont know about others but something about constantly shutting off and restarting the engine seems weirder to me evryday. I've always heard that startup is when the most engine wear happens, and it's hard not to wonder what kind of long term impact this has on components, so the big ponder is to leave it enabled, or are you hitting that off button every time you start the car?, I'd honestly be more comfortable if there were a way to disable it permanently

Stop-start? Not my thing. I get it saves gas and helps the planet, but all those restarts can't be good for the car, even if they say it's fine. I always shut it off. Do you drive in the city a lot? That might make it worth keeping on.

I totally agree, the constant cycling can feel pretty unnatural and it contributes to wear on the starter and battery. A lot of folks choose to disable it every time they drive. Depending on the model year of your Santa Fe, there might be ways to disable it permanently, or you could look into using something like autostop eliminators. Plus, when you think about it, the fuel savings aren't all that significant in actual driving conditions.
